Vernell Payton

Vernell Payton – BET Sunday Best – Season 3 - Min. Vernell Payton Jr. attended John McDonogh High School and graduated from John F. Kennedy Sr. High School in New Orleans. Payton serves as one of eight praise and worship leaders at the City of Love where his pastors are Bishop Lester and Fran Love. Also an ordained minister, Payton is the proud father David V.C. Payton III.

Unlike other talented vocalists, Vernell did not discover his singing… voice at the age of 1-, 2-, or 3-years. Considered to be a “late bloomer” according to Gospel singing, Vernell first exposed his gift at 10 years-old before an audience at Bradley Elementary School in New Orleans. It was then that, Vernell began to share his musical gift with countless congregations across the Greater New Orleans area. Over the years, Vernell became one of the most requested soloists for programs, special occasions and special observances for the New Orleans Public School District. Main Source:  Min.
